VIVAnews - Government of Yogyakarta City as of yet know how big the loss suffered by citizens due to the cold lava flood that hit the city of Yogyakarta, especially residents who live along the banks of river Kali Code. This time it tipped on Mount Merapi.
"We definitely have not gotten reports of casualties either sick or died from the Code river overflowed," said Haryadi Suyuti, Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta, on Monday night 29 November 2010.
Although not yet received a report with certainty the amount of losses and human casualties, but the municipal government of Yogyakarta has alerted all the needs, particularly for health and food supply for residents whose homes had flooded.
"The officer also is conducting data collection on the physical condition of the bridge foundations are worried about cracking a result of flooding of land," he explained.
Yogyakarta City Government in order to anticipate early cold lava flood hazard have also been set in 1994 rallying point for the citizens of the city in anticipation of flood lava. There are about 13,000 people living on the banks of times. Readiness includes 66 RW evacuation locations in 15 villages in eight districts.
"The location that the rallying point determined by the local people to facilitate their search for the nearest safe place."
Haryadi further stated Code river overflowed due to heavy rainfall in the district of Sleman and carry material through the Code of Merapi which divides the city of Yogyakarta.
