Beckhams, 'Mr. Bean' invited to Royal Wedding; Obamas not
Only 1,900 invites were sent out for the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, and only 600 of the attendees will continue on to Buckingham Palace to feast on the buffet-style lunch reception that The Queen is hosting.
Among those who made the cut are football superstar David Beckham and his wife, ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, according to a report by The Daily Mail. Beckham helped William as an ambassador of England's 2018 World Cup bid.
Other celebrities who have reportedly been invited to the wedding are singer Elton John, film director Guy Ritchie, and "Mr. Bean" actor Rowan Atkinson.
The Spencers, relatives of William's late mother Diana, have been invited to the wedding. Members of the House of Windsor, William's relatives from his father Prince Charles' side of the family, have also been invited, although notably missing from the list is Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew.
Fifteen members of the Middleton family have been invited, including Kate's sister, London socialite Pippa Middleton.
Buckingham Palace officials revealed that crowned heads of states are invited to the wedding, while US President Barack Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy did not receive invitations.
In a separate Associated Press article on the Los Angeles Times, Palace officials said political leaders who are not from the 54-member Commonwealth of Nations (such as Obama and Sarkozy) were not invited to the wedding.
The exes
The Daily Mail also reported that ex-partners of both William and Kate were invited to the wedding. Kate has invited her ex-boyfriends Willem Marx and Rupert Finch, while William has included in the guest list all of his ex-girlfriends, including his rumored "first true love" Jecca Craig.
The couple also invited friends from St. Andrews, the university where the two met.
The guest list revealed the modernity of the new royal couple, as the two invited people who were traditionally not invited to royal weddings. William has invited his aides to the reception, including his private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton and his press officer Miguel Head.
It has been revealed earlier that Prince Harry's Filipina nanny, Araceli Piccio, has also been invited to the wedding.
Thirty-three wedding guests have titles, the Daily Mail reported. The guests in the royal wedding are a mix of Britain's upper class, including titled heirs and moneyed socialites.
Among the couple's invited friends are five nightclub owners and one full-time disc jockey.
Not invited
Those who were reportedly not invited to the wedding are Carley Massy-Birch, who dated William right before he dated Kate; and Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, who shortly dated William while he split from Kate in 2004.
Kate's friends Jessica Hay and Gemma Williamson were also not invited. Both women breached the code of silence and spoke about Kate's past to the press.
